The three brands you will see most often in South Korea are Navien, Kiturami, and Daesung Celtic.
Common Boiler Controllers You’ll See in Korea
Don’t worry if your controller looks different from the examples below. One helpful tip is that the customer service (A/S) phone number is usually printed directly on the controller casing, making it easy to identify the manufacturer if you ever need technical support.
1) Navien Boiler Controller
Most Navien models feature a clean digital display with simple plus (+) and minus (−) touch buttons in the center to adjust room or floor temperature.
2) Kiturami Boiler Controller
Kiturami controllers often utilize a central dial for easy temperature adjustments, flanked by dedicated physical buttons for quick heating and hot water control.
3) Daesung Celtic Boiler Controller
Daesung Celtic models frequently feature a prominent central rocker button for temperature control, alongside clear eco-heating and power indicators.
When the Boiler Controller Isn’t Working Properly
Many people immediately assume the boiler itself has failed when a heating issue occurs. However, what many tenants don’t know is that the wall controller is also a consumable electronic device. After years of constant use, the internal buttons or dial can simply wear out.
⚠️ Common Symptoms of a Faulty Controller:
- The Power button does not respond when pressed.
- Pressing the + or − buttons fails to change the target temperature.
- The control dial turns smoothly, but nothing happens on the digital display.
- The screen completely freezes or blanks out, refusing any user input.
If this happens, do not force the buttons or attempt to dismantle the electronics yourself. If you are renting the apartment, contact your landlord or building manager immediately and explain that the controller is malfunctioning. In many cases, simply replacing the wall controller solves the problem without the massive expense of replacing the entire boiler unit.
